Happy New Year! Ummm...yeah, I'm a bit behind.
well, my last post was about surviving law school, this one is more like "thriving" in law school. That's right, I got my grades. Now, for those who know what I made as an Undergrad, the GPA may be a disappointment. Let me clarify by stating that all the grades are curved to a 3.0, meaning that teachers give very few grades higher than B's, and for every A, there is a C...
well, I made a B in legal writing, a B+ in Civil Procedure, an A- in Torts, and an A in Contracts. That gives me a GPA of 3.57, much lower than my Undergrad GPA ever was, BUT, it will put me AT LEAST in the top 20%, maybe in the top 10%! I'll let y'all know where I stand when I find out. Last year, a 3.6ish was required for top 10%. Why am I harping on this number? Because its a magically number that Firms look at and give high pay for. Top 10% at UH Law generally earn over 100K a year at private firms, from my understanding. I could also easily get a job with the Harris County DA's office, as they look to the top half (3.1 GPA). Okay, my little bragging on myself is over.
yesterday we went to Brenham, where I gave a quick lecture on how to debate...only 3 hours. It was amanda and my anniversary, so we also went out to eat steak. Today, I get to go judge debate at Spring Westfield, tomorrow judge debate at El Campo. Hmmm....lots of debate judging. Can make a little money, I guess.
